Buljarica wetland

The wetland hinterland of Buljarica is part of the bay's natural identity. The Montenegrin Ecologists Society studies its habitats and their protection, including two species of freshwater turtle in a 2025–2026 project.

A natural habitat, not a landscaped park

Observe the landscape from accessible public roads. Do not assume that the reeds, channels or fenced plots are an open tourist trail. No unverified pin for a viewing point has been added to the guide.

What you might notice

The appearance of the wetland and the water level change throughout the year. Use binoculars and keep your distance from animals. Seeing any particular species is not guaranteed; do not approach nests or remove animals from their habitat.

Separate protection status from labels

The value of the wetland habitat and the wider Katič Nature Park are not a reason to call it a Ramsar site without proper confirmation. This guide does not add such a designation.
